Adaptive skills training is provided to all consumers within the regional center that have a desire or a need to become more independent in life. The service is provided to consumers with all types of disabilities who are 13 years of age and older. The program is customized to meet the needs of every consumer to increase independence in all areas of life.
The consumer receives instruction on how to live as independently as possible given their level of physical, intellectual, and emotional development. Training is provided on a one-to-one basis at the individual's residence and/or in the community on a daily/weekly basis or as needed.
Supported Living Services (or SLS) supports people who want to live independently in their own home. People who use supported living services live apart from their guardians in apartments or houses that they lease or own. SLS is available for consumers throughout California who use regional center services.
ABA is a science based technique that focuses on behavior that teaches us how behavior works and how learning takes place for a person with Autism. Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) or other treatment plans are utilized to increase useful or desired behaviors. The use of behavior techniques and principles bring about meaningful and positive changes in behavior.
