What’s the Difference Between a Developmental Delay and a Developmental Disability?
A developmental delay means a child or adult hasn’t reached certain milestones at the expected age.
A developmental disability is a more severe and long-lasting condition, like autism or Down syndrome, that significantly affects daily life. While a delay might be overcome with intervention, a disability usually requires ongoing support.
